Water Drops

Posted by
Sarito (Basingstoke, United Kingdom) on 8 July 2012 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio.

Ingredients: Baking Tray, A4 Paper (backdrop), water, tripod(s), external flash, camera, remote release, water dispenser (I used a Engine coolant tester, looks like a small pipette).

Setup: I printed the mirror image of the words 'Water Drop' in an A4 paper and used as backdrop. Baking tray filled with water at the centre, flash pointing at the background from camera left and water dispenser on a stand from camera right. Placed an object at the exact place where the water will drop to get the focus point and turned the lens to manual focus. One hand on the water dispenser and the remote release on the other hand.. and then 'happy clicking' :). I took about 150 shots with many variation in timings of the drop and distance of the drop, etc.

Fantastic execution! I like the combination of effects: drops falling on water (wonderful by itself) and letters on paper being distorted. Good job
